Requirements to root HTC Desire X
1. Charge your battery up to 70%.
2. Enable USB debugging. (All apps > Settings > Manage Applications > Development > USB Debugging – check box)
3. Backup your phone data.
4. Bootloader must be unlocked. If not then follow this link.
5. Install HTC One drivers from here.
6. Install latest version of Java.
6. Download files to root HTC Desire X.
- CWM Recovery for Jelly Bean users only.
- Rooting Toolkit
- SuperSU
Procedure to Root HTC Desire X
Step 1: Download all the above files in your PC to root HTC Desire X.
Step 2: Extract “Rooting Toolkit” on your desktop.
Step 3: If you are ICS user then skip the “Step 4” and proceed further.
Step 4: Now, if you have installed Jelly Bean on your device then place the downloaded “CWM Recovery” in “Desire_X_All-In-One_Kit > Recoveries” and rename it to “recovery.img”.
Step 5: Open the “Desire.exe” from the extracted folder.
Step 6: Choose option saying “Next Flash a Recovery“.
Step 7: If you are Jelly Bean user then click on ”Your Own Recovery” and click “Flash Recovery“. If not then flash the other one.
At this stage, you have installed CWM Recovery on your HTC Desire X. Don’t stop here, follow the below guide to root HTC Desire X.
Step 8: Now, copy the SuperUser file in to external/internal storage of your device.
Step 9: Now, boot your device into recovery mode by pressing “Volume down + Power Key” for a few seconds and from there select “recovery” mode.
Step 12: From recovery menu, select “install zip from SD card” and give a path to SuperSU file, which you have downloaded earlier.
Step 13: Wait for the process to complete. “Reboot” the device.
